About Us

Deep Blue Costs was established in 2015 by Mark Carlisle – a Costs Draftsman who began his career in costs in mid-1980, with numerous appearances at the Senior Courts Costs Office, and outstanding results at hearings generally. Mark formed the company with a view to providing the best possible service to his clients by using only very experienced Costs Lawyers and Costs Draftsmen.

As a result of this approach, we are able to provide exceptional quality and service, including precise and accurate advice, excellent drafting and negotiating skills and the highest standard of representation at hearings.

On 30 November 2020 Mark Carlisle stepped aside from Deep Blue Costs. The torch was passed to Rehan Mujaddadi, Costs Lawyer and Director of Deep Blue Costs from 01 December 2020 onwards. Rehan had already successfully set up the London and South operations of Deep Blue Costs, for which he was Head of Costs for 4.5 years prior to taking on Directorship of the firm.

Rehan’s journey started following completion of his BA Hons degree, when in 2004 he joined a graduate trainee costs draftsman program working in-house for a prestigious national Solicitor practice. He quickly completed the two-year trainee costs draftsman program and worked up the ranks to become a Team Leader.

Since then, he has held a number of challenging and high-profile positions for some of the industry’s largest and most influential corporations. Including Manager of Multi-Track Team, Manager of Clinical Negligence Team and Head of Costs.

He has copious experience of drafting complex documentation, and in 2008 was instrumental in opening a London Office for what was then the largest solicitor costs practice in the country and has significant experience of managing teams of specialist costs practitioners. Rehan gained experience in representing both Claimants and Defendants and attained rights of audience when he qualified as a Costs Lawyer in 2010.

Rehan is a highly motivated, detail orientated and conscientious Costs Lawyer who can communicate extremely effectively. He approaches his work methodically with a focus on clarity and accuracy and as a result obtains outstanding results for his clients.

He has a critical understanding of Costs Budgets and is able to provide technical assistance throughout the Costs Management process.

He is a member for the Association of Costs Lawyers and routinely provides advocacy at the Senior Courts Costs Office and at other regional Courts.

Rehan has a particular interest in complex Clinical Negligence, Catastrophic and serious RTAs, Commercial Litigation, Contractual Disputes, High Value and Multi-Track cases, Abuse Claims, Dental Negligence, Employer’s Liability, Occupier’s and Public Liability, Property Disputes and assessments under the Solicitors Act 1974.

When not working Rehan enjoys travelling and experiencing new cultures. He has a keen interest in cars and enjoys relaxation time at the gym.
